Quins using gum shield to track head injuries

Harlequins head of medical Mike Lancaster tells Sky Sports News’ James Cole about measures the Premiership Rugby side are undertaking to confront fears over player safety surrounding head injuries and concussion.

“The data allows us to life time monitor how the players are doing and if needs be make interventions” Mike Lancaster “Rugby from the time I have been involved has always been at the forefront of making sure we look after the players, and trial new systems and make sure we are research driven in looking after the athletes. For me this is a very good step towards making sure we understand not only what they do in a game situation but more importantly what they do in the week.
