Olympic Committee partners with SWA to pilot AI-powered judging
Customer Story
The Challenge
Judging in Olympic Boxing needed to be assessed to see if improvements could be made, and ultimately to asses whether or not technology might one day be good enough to replace human judges in Olympic Boxing and other sports. This would both be in Paris at The Olympic Games and in Olympic Qualifiers.
What We Did
We developed a data capture system to use live in competition in-venue and via real time video stream.
We utilised and processed that data in real time to provide in and post competition predictions of who won each fight.
AI trained on historical fight data and scoring patterns to replicate human judging delivering consistent decisions without bias.
Tested, transparent, explicable scoring breakdown delivered during and after each round/bout. Not only how the fight was scored but why it was scored in a certain way andan how each metric contributed to that score.
We provided detailed post-fight analysis for athletes and coaches to support performance reviews and strategic development.
The Result
Fairness and Integrity has been improved as has the quality of judging. We continue to work with the IOC to see what further improvements might be made to judging.
